Bio and Contact info
I am a tattooer in the city of Toronto, Ontario, Canada. I tattoo at New Tribe which is located at 232 Queen Street West on the second floor. I enjoy tattooing in the Traditional Western style. Strong, emblematic tattoos with a nod towards the imagery and themes which evolved in western tattooing before the 1960′s. Sailing ships, lady head vignettes, birds, roses, religious motifs, early western interpretations of traditional asian tattoo subjects, and many other classic and sometimes strange designs. Designs whose meanings have been lost to time and thus can now be understood to represent a hark back to the time itself. A time when western tattooing was still what could at best be described as ‘Folk Art’, lacking in sophistication much like the earliest Blues or Rock and Roll. Just like these early forms of Blues and Rock and Roll however, the lack of sophistication does by no means diminish the beauty and value of the art. It still resonates today.

Hi Mike,
It’s Louisa (the Scottish girl you tattooed about two weeks ago) Just wanted to thank you again for doing such a good job on my wee heart, it’s pretty much all healed up and looks great. And the best part is it’s completely pain-free now : )
I have a few pictures of it, not the best but if you need me to send you some just let me know and I can email you.
Hope to speak to you soon,
Louisa

Good Morning Mike!
Thanks again for the tattoos on Good Friday ! You did such a great job on them for my wife and I! Looking forward to coming in and getting another three from you as soon as they are completely healed.
Mike you are a resource of knowledge regarding the history of tattoos!!!! It was a true pleasure to have met you not to mention your work mates. My wife wants you and only you to do her sleeve of flowers.
Once again, we thank you from our hearts for sharing some time, some chucks, good conversation and of course your ink with us! We both look forward chatting with you again in the very near future.
Well, I say goodbye to Toronto this morning and a great big hello to my new home in Midland on Georgian Bay this afternoon.
Best wishes, and I look forward to some more good conversation java a smoke or two and of course more ink! See you soon……
Naturally,
Rich & Tracey
